The GPX ‘CTE’ range of 110v-only petrol, open set Generators are suitable for Tin 12 applications. Built to provide reliable power in the harshest conditions. Engines and alternators are protected from physical damage and the electrics have full overload protection. Ideal for rental and hire applications.
CTE stands for Centre Tap Earth, this is the standard power delivery for all 110V site tools. These generators are highlighted as ‘CTE’ because they only feature the 110V output and no 240V output. The main benefit is that if the generator is only required for 110V use then it features an increased number of 110V sockets over the non ‘CTE’ version.
Suitable for Tin 12 fusion welding.
Comes with a 1 year warranty.

CTE stands for Centre Tap Earth, this is the standard power delivery for all 110v site tools. These generators are highlighted as 'CTE' because they only feature the 110V output and no 240V output.
In a 110V CTE system, instead of the neutral lead, the centre tap is connected to the supply earth. This system has no neutral, therefore caution must be taken to ensure that no live lead is earthed. Short-circuit may occur and may lead to system power failure. Also, the centre tap of the transformer should be left unconnected when is it not in use in an unearth system.
CTE system is commonly used for site safety portable tools. The centre tap splits the winding into 2 sides with each having only 55V with respect to earth. In case of an electric shock, this limits the magnitude of the shock potential to 55V, half of 110V. Although 55V can still be a fatal shock under certain circumstances, it is better than a full 110V.
TIN 12 Generators are designed for operation with Butt Fusion and Electrofusion equipment for the Gas and Water industries.
Before deciding which generator you need, it is important to consider ALL the appliances you will be operating, how many will be used simultaneously and the TOTAL current consumption at any one time. Most appliances have a description plate stating the current, usually in watts.
TV sets, cookers, HI-FI, kettles and filament lamps have resistive loads, their starting and running current being virtually the same, and as stated on the description plate.
Hand tools with universal type motors need an extra 5% added to their stated power consumption.
Fluorescent lamps (on average) require approximately 1.5 times their stated wattage to start-up.
Altrad Belle Mini/Maxi concrete mixers, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, freezers and central heating pumps usually employ induction/capacitor type motors. Their starting current can be 3 times the normal running requirement: check the description plate carefully. Note for example an Altrad Belle Minimix 150 mixer, having a motor wattage of 650 watts input multiplied by 3 would give a starting requirement of 1950 watts, therefore a 2.2kW generator would be required.
If in doubt check with the manufacturer. Microwave ovens are often referred to by their cooking power, which on average is half their actual operating power consumption. However, switching on the oven consumes an extra 25% power as the capacitor is energised. Thus, a normal 600 watt microwave actually needs 1500 watts to operate it.
